It’s been a long time but Age of Empires II HD still is the most popular real time strategy game that is going to receive a new expansion pack, confirmed Microsoft in their blog post.
The HD edition was launched two years ago on Steam and it still continues to witness amazing sales during every Steam discount promotions. The game will also receive patches that will fix the multiplayer issues, bugs and there will be some specific changes in the lobby that makes it easier for players to find matches.
While Microsoft didn’t spend much time to talk about the upcoming expansion pack, they released an image that showed soldiers mounted on camel backs. They had bows and arrows which confirms that these are camel archers but it doesn’t say more about their civilization.
There is no specific release date for the expansion pack but it should be out real soon, we hope. In their blog, the company adds that the expansion pack will bring all new civilization, most probably more than one and immersive campaigns to keep players occupied for months to come.
Age of Empires II HD will receive new, powerful units, weapons, and multiple game modes to keep the fight going on. The original title was released in 1993 which was re-launched as a HD edition in 2013.
Forgotten Empires was the last expansion pack but it is almost two years since the launch. The upcoming pack is also expected to offer the game’s original civilization and culture a boost. We assume that it could be related to adding some interesting elements and modes to the original content from the series.
The official blog is a must read for fans who love to know more about the patch updates as well as the future plans that Microsoft has for the Age of Empire titles. Let us hope they will make up their mind to launch a next gen strategy title soon.
