For an average consumer, it’s a whole lot of money to spend on a portable music player and theoretically, the cost could easily buy you a high end smartphone which also players music.
The Astell & Kern AK Jr is not designed for every one of you but rather only for the music buffs who wouldn’t mind spending $600 on a portable music player. The company promises that they are so many high definition stuff integrated into it that it is capable of reproducing sound like never before that will blow your mind off.
Extremely Thin and Lightweight
The luxury product is extremely thin measuring at just 6.9 mm and its weight is 93 g which confirms that this is really a portable music machine. The device uses a brushed aluminum body on the top with a volume wheel similar to the ones you might have found in the iPod Classic devices.
Audio playback is the selling point of the AK Jr which is at 24 bit/ 192 hKz resolution. It is definitely well above the defined range unless you own a high end PC or home theater system with amplifiers capable of encoding DTS HD audio out of blu rays.
Format Support and Storage
Support for multiple audio formats include ALAC, DSD and even FLAC. For easier navigation, the device got a 3.1 inch touch screen display and has solid 64 GB of on board memory. You can always expand it further with a 128 GB card, stuff them with all the music you could and keep listening to them for hours without running out of battery.
It renders 1.95V RMS headphone output and uses Bluetooth 4.0 technology for easy wireless streaming.
AstellnKern confirmed in their official website that they will be revealing this product at the Munich High End event to be held on May 14th.
