Nvidia recently launched the all new GTX 950 graphics which is priced at the sweet spot of $160. The pricing is an absolute taker for every PC gamers and performance could easily beat last year’s GTX 750Ti.
When it comes to gaming on computers, it’s all about 1080p resolution at a decent frame rate of 40 to 60 FPS. While Nvidia likes to showcase the mid-range GTX 950 as a MOBA graphics card, it is equally good in titles like Battlefield 4, Assassin’s Creed Unity and Batman Arkham Knight. The Asus Strix variant is one of the best as it has always been but every other manufacturer’s build is equally impressive.
For players who need to play latest titles and upcoming ones like Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, Call of Duty Black Ops 3 on full HD 1080p resolution, the newly launched graphics card is a worthy upgrade. But, the only catch is that with just 2GB of VRAM you may have to upgrade to a new card in just a year or two.
The Nvidia GTX 950 can run at just 90W TDP making it extremely energy efficient. It is quite cool and silent when in operation which is mandatory for any gamer who don’t like a fussy noise coming out of their cabinet. In terms of performance, it delivers a decent 25 FPS with Far Cry 4 on ultra-setting with a max of 39 FPS on a 1080p monitor.
Many talk about Intel Skylake, DDR4 and 4K resolution monitors but they are hardly a requisite for mainstream gamers. All you need is a card that will help you enjoy the holiday titles releasing in a couple of months and play some MOBA, Counter Strike among other multiplayer titles. If that’s a yes, forget everything and purchase the $160 Nvidia GTX 950.
There might be a 950Ti version incoming for a slightly higher price which you can go for if you choose to wait for couple more weeks. However, Nvidia didn’t officially confirm the existence of such a card and it may or may not release in time when the game titles roll out.
The official graphics benchmark posted by the company should give you a fair idea as it lists almost every hot title on the planet.
