Razer has a new marketing motto and the company clarified that the newly launched Nabu is not a smartwatch, but a watch that is smart.
If someone can actually understand the difference, they can easily be hailed as the tech genius. Razer Nabu watch is priced at $149 for the basic edition and the Forged Edition at $199.
For this price tag, one would definitely expect something on par with the Android Wear. However, Razer is all about having a digital chronograph as its primary function. Additionally, it has another display within the display which provides fitness tracking solutions.
The Nabu is designed to offer functions like smart alarms, countdown timers, stopwatch and of course, knowing the world time. It has to connect via bluetooth to smartphones so as to be in sync with GMT to display accurate time.
While the basic chronograph display can last for a year powered by a battery cell, the secondary OLED screen can last for a week. It also supports watch to watch communication. Two people with Nabu-s can bump to share Facebook or Twitter feeds. There’s already a Razer Nabu product but it is rather a smart band and now the company has went a step further ahead.
CEO of Razer, Ming Liang Tan said, “Our goal is to bring incredible functionality and reliability to a digital timepiece. It has smart features to make life easier for tech enthusiasts of modern times.”
The watch works with Android 4.3 and iOS 8 or higher versions of the respective operating systems. Forged edition is already available for sale in their official store while the cheaper variant will be available before the end of this month.
Razer is one of the popular gaming peripherals manufacturer. However, gamers always claim that they overprice their gaming keyboard and mice than they are actually worth. Now, the brand has set a new benchmark by overpricing a dumb watch which most buyers may hardly bother to own. You can find more information on their official website.
