Not everyone loves Mechanical keyboards but they are noisy even when silent Red switches are used which is why Steelseries wants to bank on it. The upcoming Steelseries Apex 150 is cheap, looks simple and has RGB but without the noise.
Based on gamers buying fancy membrane keyboards with RGB lighting and additional features, Steelseries Apex 150 is getting launched on October 5th. The company has integrated QuickTension membrane switches to mimic a mechanical keyboard. It uses five-zone RGB LED backlighting and costs just $50.
In terms of build quality, everything looks great on paper. The company certifies 20 million key presses. The design involves a metal plate base which has an exclusively designed membrane sheet on top and uses custom molded top insert for each individual key.
Powered by 24-key rollover, the Steelseries Apex 150 can display notifications whenever there is a new message, mute status or other information be shared with the user. It is also spill resistant and comes with one-year limited warranty in the U.S. region but 2-year warranty in Europe (no idea why this discrimination for U.S. customers!). The product is now available for pre-order on Amazon for $50.
