The technology world is slowly catching up with USB 3.1 Gen2 technology and still majority of the devices have not adopted the new, faster USB solution yet.
The USB Implementers Forum doesn’t wait for the slow humans to make a decision and adopt the speed because they have already released a huge, really huge documentation explaining the technology used in USB 3.2 which will double the transfer rates with the help of two-lane approach.
When USB 3.2 comes into mainstream market, it will support transfer speed of 20Gbps or 2.5GB/s of raw bandwidth. It doesn’t require a complete overhaul because all existing Type C cables that comply with the quality standards should be able to provide these humongous speed. Intel and AMD may integrate USB 3.2 chips in motherboards that are released towards the end of 2018 or in early 2019.
