Amazon Oasis is the latest eReader to hit the Amazon store and the company has revised their model to offer something more reliable on the long run.
After nearly 10 years since the original launch, the company has made the most popular reader waterproof so that you could carry it around the swimming pool and beach without worries. The device has a 7-inch e-ink display which has an increased 300 pixels per inch allowing you to read more and turn less pages.
The Amazon Oasis eReader has IPX8 water proof rating as it can be submerged in two meters of water for up to 60 minutes. In terms of design, the new Kindle reader is very different with a large bezel on the side with touch sensitive buttons and an increased bulge on the back side to hold.
The aluminium finish provides a premium look for the device yet it feels more bulky and expensive at $250. It is powered by a 1GHz dual core Cortex A9 processor and has backlighting. However, it doesn’t support ePUB format which is really bad but Amazon aims to simplify it with their online store and their massive collection of books.
The $250 model has 8GB of storage while for $280 you can get the 32GB edition of the Amazon Oasis. The Kindle Paperwhite is easily the best pick of all-time as it costs just $120 and a reader’s dream come true.
