After years of waiting, the addictive survival game Minecraft is coming to a Nintendo console near you. Before you get too excited about it, it’s important to know that it wouldn’t run on older 3DS and 2DS consoles.
Titled aptly as Minecraft New Nintendo 3DS Edition, the game makes use of the improved hardware specifications available in the newer handheld console. Instead of trying to make it work on older devices, the developers at Mojang and 4J studios have focused on making the best out of the current hardware. Announced at the Nintendo Direct Presentation, the game features both Creative mode and Survival mode.
Players will be able to switch between manual analog controls and touch screen controls, making it easy to play while on the move. The game when it lands on the new Nintendo 3DS console will come bundled with special skin packs and texture packs previously released on the Wii U console. It will be specific to characters that are properties of brand Nintendo.
The digital copy of Minecraft New 3DS Edition will be available in eshop store right away while a physical boxed copy is heading to stores later in the year. There is no specific date for the boxed edition yet.
