Porsche’s Mission E Pricing is Nearly the Same as Tesla Cars

Competition heats up in 2019 when Porsche’s Mission E electric car hits dealership stores. The concept model was revealed back in 2015 and it is now close to production than ever with very little changes.

Talking about the car at the Frankfurt Motor Show, Porsche commented that they are going with an entry level Panamera pricing which is around $85,000. The automobile brand believes that it is relatively reasonable pricing for the features it offer. The EV can charge from 0 to 80 percent in just 15 minutes. A sportier styling is what buyers can expect in the four door sedan making it very similar to the Tesla Model S in terms of looks.

Performance and pricing seems to be quite similar as well. The Porsche Mission E model can reach 62 mph in just 3.5 seconds and 124 mph in just 12 seconds making it ridiculously fast for an electric car. Top speed is pegged at 155 mph. The car will be powered by dual motors, support four wheel drive and a steering that provides complete control over all wheels.

For Tesla lovers who like the powerful battery and range, Porsche plans to provide the 350kW fast-charging technology which allows the model to go up to 250 miles with just 15 minutes of charging while its maximum reach is at 300 miles. Tesla Model S 100D which offers 335 miles is priced at $87,200 whereas the P100D equipped with ludicrous mode costs a massive $135,000.

The pricing brings the Porsche Mission E and Tesla Model S competitively close which is when the former’s brand value may play a bigger role. We will know the final pricing and performance only in 2019 after which a direct comparison can be made.
