Huawei is Working on Foldable Smartphones Already

Huawei wants to be a strong contender for Samsung, Motorola and LG. They have already commenced work to create a foldable smartphone which is set for launch in 2018.

In the recent past, Huawei Mate 10 Pro gave a tough fight to Google Pixel 2 in the DxO Mark by creating the best ever dual camera setup. The news confirmed that the smartphone manufacturer is already on the top with their products.

While rumors continue to float that Samsung is working on foldable smartphones, Huawei wants to prove their mettle. At the moment, the team is working on a dual display connected by a hinge to mimic a foldable display.

“We aren’t too happy with it because there is still a gap between the two displays. Once we get rid of it, the real foldable display will be out. It might sound like a far cry now but we will achieve it eventually,” commented Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei.

Going by their words, the technology is far from being perfect. Samsung is working on their own version of foldable phones as well but making compatible batteries and touchscreen is posing a technical hindrance to smartphone manufacturers.
