Unlike most other big brands, Samsung never feels intimidated to innovate. The Samsung Galaxy S11 may jump leaps and bounds if we are to believe this dual display patent will come into being as rumored.
According to a patent spotted by LetsGoDigital, Samsung is working on a new phone, possibly the S11e and S11 with a dual display setup. While the front will have no selfie camera, the rear end will have a half-display that will be used to take selfies, make video calls and also browse the entire phone which is reportedly helpful in improving battery life.
Dual Display Technology
Going by the screenshots provided, it does look like a nifty idea even though Samsung is not the first company to do this. Vivo has already experimented with one of their smartphone named the Nex Dual Display but Samsung will be a brand that is going to innovate the smartphone segment for the first time.
The fact that the company didn’t shy away from creating the Fold Phone despite all the complaints stand proof that they may do a dual display with the Samsung Galaxy S11 in 2020 without thinking twice. After all, Apple is really sluggish when it comes to implementing new technology and they are not even willing to get rid of the notch completely even on the iPhone 11.
A great move for selfie lovers because if confirmed, the Samsung S11 will make it easier to take high quality photographs without having to rely on a front camera. Besides, the design also provides you a completely bezel-less display as everything will be done on the back end.
When taking photographs, you can either flip the phone to view content on the smaller display or maybe just take photos on the front. A speculated feature is that the smaller screen can be used to make the phone’s battery last longer.
Considering the size and resolution of a smaller display, it can allow you to see notifications and reserve the full display for gaming, movies or other purposes that really need the extra screen real estate. A practical issue will be on safeguarding this phone against drops because there is a display on both sides and you can’t cover one side with a grip.
Samsung Galaxy S11 will usually get launched in the month of March every year and 2020 Unpacked event is just a couple of months to go before we can confirm if the company is making the big leap.
