The Xiaomi Mi Band 5 is an anticipated fitness band that you can purchase for really low cost compared to the expensive Apple Watches. The Mi Band 4 was launched in China in June 2019 but the product lacked some important features.
The Mi Band 4 had NFC support in the Chinese variant and even had a microphone that allowed to tap into AI assistant features. However, for some odd reason the company didn’t launch the same variant in the global market. Instead, they opted for a band that didn’t had these features making it a half-baked solution for those looking for a solid upgrade.
Things are about to change as a new update reveals that Xiaomi is gearing up to launch the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 which will look almost like the older band but with better features. The global variant is expected to have a microphone but it has been confirmed that it will have NFC support.
After all, many of these features are far from being luxurious and are considered quite essential in all smartphones and fitness bands. Xiaomi has some tough competition in the Asian market with brands like Vivo, Oppo and OnePlus launching one product after the another.
Xiaomi has been continuously expanding in terms of product line-up by launching beard trimmers, headphones, televisions and many more. They are no longer just a smartphone manufacturer but Motorola and OnePlus launched their own televisions as well. It just heats up the competition like never before in China, India and other South East Asian countries.
Based on their launch schedule, the new Xiaomi Mi Band 5 is set for launch in early 2020, possibly in the month of March or June. NFC makes it easier to pay without having to use your credit card. It is not confirmed and other hardware specifications remain sparse at the moment but it won’t be long before loads of new products drop in next year.
