Blizzcon went under the bus for a lot of reasons including banning a player for supporting the Hong Kong protests. The event is going to go underway in one way or other where the company is expected to launch Overwatch 2 for longtime fans.
While the name suggests that it could be a new game altogether, it is in fact a major update for the existing title. You don’t have to exactly purchase this once again as the title suggests but the game will undergo major changes. It might be difficult for those who are completely addicted to the universe and how the characters work so far.
The changes will be major but it will still retain all the fan favorite characters. The developers further confirmed that Overwatch 2 will have more focus on the story and the narrative elements. As it has always been, the game will receive a brand new map named Toronto. The lack of new heroes is another major concern which will be fixed with the introduction one more new hero.
The number of heroes is just okay at this point and the game developers are also expected to keep the title balanced without allowing one hero to be spammed or overpowered. Such a mistake usually spoils the game for everyone which they are keen to avoid and there is always a significant gap between one hero launch until the next one takes place. The new launch will also have a four player, PVE game mode set in Lucio’s hometown in Rio De Janeiro.
Apart from the existing Escort, Assault and other two game modes, a new Push game mode will be introduced much to the relief of everyone. After all, people have been grinding these few game modes over years now and it is time they would want to try something new to feel competitive. Blizzard has lots going on its plate as the company still fixing the player ban issue for talking about Hong Kong protests, they have to launch Overwatch 2 and there may be a Diablo IV as well.
