There are rumors and there is this speculated rumor because Apple Macs don’t play games! At least, that’s what the company wanted us to believe for so many years and a gaming Mac sounds like a far cry for the brand to be investing in.
Things aren’t the same these days because no one expected Apple Arcade to be launched. A subscription service truly focused on providing first party game titles that work only on iOS and MacOS devices. What seemed like an impossible market for Apple is now a reality and it adds strength to this supposedly rumor that claims a Gaming Mac is in the making.
The device will be sold for $5000 and it is not at all surprising because the brand doesn’t mind selling a monitor stand for $1000 and this is a no-brainer for a powerful PC.
The actual issue begins with the number of games that could run on MacOS. While Apple is going to make an extremely durable and highly robust gaming laptop with 4K display and powerful hardware specifications, graphic cards, it is to be seen how they will handle the gaming aspect.
An alternative option for the company would be to get developers onboard for Apple Arcade and help them make AAA titles for MacOS rather than focus on existing titles on Windows, Steam platforms. There are so many game launchers on Windows PCs these days and making these titles run on Apple’s closed architecture is no easy task.
Instead of going for a laptop like MacBook, a Mac desktop CPU is what they will focus on mostly so as to appeal to the gaming crowd. Mac owners are not much of gamers as they buy a PS4 or Xbox One console while serious PC gamers won’t love the OS or its lack of game titles.
We will know more about their plans only when Apple makes this announcement official, possibly in first half of 2020.
