With major manufacturers like Samsung and Apple moving on OLED displays with Always On display as a quintessential feature, OnePlus kind of lags in this department. The company in their recent update confirmed that they are going to bring the feature to their phones.
The concept is not entirely new to OnePlus because way back in the past in OP 6 smartphones, they rolled out Always On Display. Due to concerns over battery draining issues, it was removed through a software update. Ever since then, the company refuses to bring it back on all their smartphones even though it is possible to bring it as an Oxygen OS feature.
The company tweeted that they will be bringing it as an update but unfortunately, they didn’t specify whether it is being pushed to OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro models. The AOD is supposed to be an addition to all existing flagship and mid-tier models currently available in the market.
OnePlus may make a future announcement through which we might come to know if it will be made available for all phones released in the last two years. If so, it might be a valuable addition for longterm patrons.
